"and i'm sleeping on the balcony after class"
first official day of college/uni life today. farewell summer see you in several months. anywho i was almost late to class, made it in the nick of time thank goodness. my classes are night courses though, but i kinda like it cause there's a nice mix in the age group. a couple interesting people in my drawing class, i can't wait to get to know them more throughout the next 14 weeks. a couple of these folk would be: a self taught artist looking to learn more about the terms and other medias (she's around 40 i think), a physc major motor-cycler switching to just working straight on in the medical room taking drawing to bring out the passion he had as a child, a law student neglecting what her parents insist and aspiring to become a fashion designer, a mother/wife finally going after her dream and ignoring her parents wishes, a student who could care less about drawing, an insecure artist looking to perfect his technique in order to become a tattoo artist, a comic drawing teen who works at opus, and an older man whose perfected drawing straight lines striving to break out of it and draw "things without straight lines, like people...and everything...". it makes me happy. i like the class, big spacious, with easels coated in paint everywhere and big white blank walls to hang our work on every now and then. OH and another great thing, my prof (Steph) taught at Emily Carr for about 7 years! this is her second year at kwantlen. also her style is abstract, hello? how perfect is that, she'll be a great help :) i can't wait till next week. except we'll be drawing people already, i don't know if it's gonna be a nude model- i know we'll be doing that sometime. just not sure if im ready for it the first day seeing as how i don't know if i can draw people quite yet...i suppose we'll wait and see. annnnd my writing class starts next monday, stoked to see how that goes. i pray it's like my creative writing class in higschool i miss the chillness.
