i think my ma' and i are finally reaching breakthrough. the past few weeks have had there ups and downs, and rants and bonding moments. but i think we're doing a-okay, more than okay actually. yesterday while talking after breakfast she said "gabbi, you're the perfect daughter." i just looked at her, i suppose shocked or confused but content all at the same time and she added "you are." her eyes lit up, and she truly meant it. i then quickly add "well for you yes, but if i were in any other family i wouldn't be because i'm an artist." and she replies "well, i just want to see my children do what they truly love and be happy. i'm so proud of you." she then goes on to say how she brags about me and all i've done then says "you're beautiful, you always were actually. the moment you were born i thought 'my baby is beautiful'. you've always been an attractive kid actually, then there was alex. at first i thought 'oh no i'm going to have one beautiful child and one not, and she's going to feel out of place and unloved' but then after a month she got cute." we had a good laugh about that, cause we always joke about alex's rough first few weeks as a newborn. but to hear her say i was "a perfect daughter" was just gah i can't explain it. amazing. i've always been thankfully i've had a parent who supports whatever i do, be it fashion, writing, or painting. she supports me 100%. it's so great, especially since either of these three are frowned upon in most households because "artists are always broke". she's also starting to let go, embrace me coming close to adulthood. she knows i want to move out and now it seems as if she doesn't want me to.not yet at least. i can see part of her does, but the other part doesn't. the part that's still holding on to her baby girl. which is fine, cause i'm still not quite ready to leave it. not when things are finely running smoothly and oh so well :) she needs me, and i still need her. i have plenty of time to move out. what's the rush right?
